Custom Stickers for Instagram
Interested in branding your photos for use in Instagram reels or stories?
We use logos and custom text saved as .png files to overlay “stickers” on photos and videos. These files can be copied and then pasted in text boxes to create beautifully branded content for your company. It might sound complicated, but it’s surprising simple!
Follow along as I show you the process. We’ll be using the Canva mobile app. the camera roll on my phone, and Instagram for this demonstration.
First, open the Canva app and choose the + button at the bottom of the screen to start a new document. Choose the shape composition you’d like to work with. I’m just going to use the standard Instagram square post shape to host my logo, knowing that I can add that smaller shape to the other formats (like reels and stories) that I also use in Instagram.
Add your logo file, or type some text as you’d like it to appear over a photo on the blank document. If you have typefaces that are a part of your branding, you can add them to your Canva account. It’s easiest to do that when logged into Canva on a computer or laptop. You can upload your own typefaces and they will be available to you whenever you use Canva - from a desktop/laptop or the mobile app.
Next, save your image (or multiple images) as .png files with transparent backgrounds to your phone’s camera roll. You can create an album or “favorite” these images to make them easier to find. Click and hold on the image you’d like to work with until the pop up menu appears.
Choose “copy”
Then, open Instagram and start work on the Reel or Story or Post that you’d like to make. Choose the add text option and then click and hold to “paste” your .png file as if it is text. Pretty cool.
Click and drag or pinch to re-seize your logo/text .png file.
