Email Marketing Verification
Two separate clients reached out this week with problems related to email marketing. They were having trouble getting their email marketing platforms to recognize their websites/businesses.
In each case, the client mentioned that their email marketing platforms did not see enough “proof” that their businesses existed or that they were lacking an online presence.
In each case, I found that the businesses were missing a Google Business Profile. It may see unrelated but I suspect that the email marketing platforms are looking for Google Business Profiles as a means of verifying the legitimacy of the businesses.
Having a Google Business Profile is an easy way to put your business on the map and help both customers and search engines see that your company is real and not some kind of fake platform trolling people with email scams.
I thought that most of you would have this set up already— but I did some snooping (😜) and I found that many of you don’t have one yet.
If you have one, you’ll see a business listing appear when you “Google” the name of your company. It looks like this (in red):
