From Bin to Black Tie: Floral Hair Combs
What’s under the beautiful personal flower designs florists make for weddings and events? The “mechanics” as we call them, are usually satisfyingly simple. Today, I’m sharing a quick and easy method for building out a hair comb design with low cost combs from the drug store and plastic packaging from the recycling bin.
This is definitely a behind-the-scenes tip. Your clients will never guess that the beautiful hairpiece you made for them started with your recyclables.
These designs have been treasured by our wedding and event clients. Despite their humble beginnings, they are some of the more present flowers at an event. And the wearer is typically displaying them for the entirety of the event. And because of this, you might also find that your flowers appear in even MORE professional photos.
From getting ready scenes, to ceremony shots, to dinner and the dance floor — your flowers will be there. And hair combs can be a great way to help clients carry a floral note throughout their entire event.
Because of the length of time they are worn and (let’s be honest) the crazy dancing that might happen, it’s important that these are well-constructed and made with long-lasting botanical elements. Have a look at this post about the non-wilting elements that we’re using in mid June.
