Light Meter Readings

How strong are your grow lights? We have a collection of different kinds of grow lights. They offer a range of light strengths and honestly, I’ve never been too concerned about how much light they give off, because I’ve never had any problems growing with them. If it’s not broken, why fix it? Right?

I only recently started to wonder, because I’m thinking about other kinds of plants that might be grown in “greenhouse” or indoor conditions. A recommended light intensity is often offered for various kinds of plants.

I wanted to know, specifically, if Lily of the Valley (a shade loving plant) could be grown successfully in our basement.

Understanding our available light down there would help me determine where in the space I should grow the plants and under which fixtures (an at what heights the fixtures should be suspended over the plants.

The light meter I’m showing in this video costs $123. There are many other models at different price points. This one seemed to have good reviews.
