Social Proof Website Plugins
Hello- Today I’m sharing a tutorial on a website plugin that adds “social proof” marketing to your website. Social proof
Social proof and word of mouth advertising are compelling ways to encourage buyers.
Welcome back, everyone! Today, we'll delve into a powerful tool to boost your website's credibility and sales—social proof marketing. This strategy is excellent for reassuring customers that your products are authentic and highly sought after by others, creating a compelling sense of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) for potential buyers.
What is Social Proof Marketing?
Social proof marketing involves displaying real-time actions of other buyers on your website, such as recent purchases. For instance, on my website, I've installed a small ticker in the lower corner showcasing the latest purchases.
Setting it Up on Squarespace
If you're using Squarespace, there's a nifty plugin available that allows you to implement this feature seamlessly. Currently, I've set it to display the last 30 purchases, and you can customize the number of displays and their order—either sequential or randomized.
Alternatives for Other Platforms
For Shopify users, the “Snap Noti FOMO Stock Counter” offers similar functionalities. Additionally, if you're on Wix, “Nudgeify” is a good option that also integrates well with platforms like Shopify and WordPress.
Subscription Investment
Keep in mind that implementing social proof marketing via a plugin like our Square Certify subscription costs $19.99 a month. It’s a good idea to assess whether this investment will pay off for your business. For many, even a single additional sale can offset the subscription cost.
The Setup Process
Accessing Settings: Start by going to your website platform settings. For Squarespace, navigate to 'Settings' > 'Developer Tools'.
Generating an API Key: From there, choose 'Developer API Keys' and generate a key, perhaps naming it something intuitive like 'Square Proof'.
Incorporating the Code: Copy this API key into your Square Certified dashboard. Next, obtain the code snippet from the platform and inject it into your website footer via 'Website Tools' > 'Code Injection'.
Testing: Refresh your website to ensure the ticker displays correctly. If issues arise, the support team is responsive and can assist promptly.
Conclusion
Adding social proof to your website can be a game-changer, providing a subtle nudge to potential customers by showing them that others trust your products. It's also simple to set up and supported by robust customer service should you hit a snag. If you have questions or try different plugins, particularly on platforms like Shopify, Wix, or WordPress, I’d love to hear about your experiences.
