Trading for Photos

Today, we welcomed a favorite photographer to our farm for a half day photoshoot and we paid for it a different way this time.

Jamie reached out last winter to inquire about flowers for her sister-in-law’s baby shower and suggested a “flowers for photos” trade.

We hadn’t traded for photos in this way before, but it made good sense to me. I asked her for her price points for a half day and a full day photo shoot and we settled on a “half day’s worth of flowers”.

Here are a few ways you might take advantage of your farm/flowers for swaps with other vendors:

  1. Trade photos for services (like photography or marketing/design) from vendors who need flowers for an event.

  2. Trade photoshoot time at your property for professional photography.

  3. Offer to host a styled shoot or participate in a styled shoot.

You might also consider setting up a day or two when you welcome casual/recreational photographers for a small fee as a value-added product for your farm. There are so many people who aren’t necessarily cut flower buyers, but love to take photos and enjoy the beauty. I wouldn’t count on being able to use any of their images for your own purposes.
