WHOLESALE VENDORS
Geo Seed
A wide variety of seeds in larger quantities and for the same amount of money you might spend on a retail order. Keep in mind that over-ordering seeds isn’t necessarily a good thing. While many seeds can be held in a cool dry place and used in future seasons, some varieties do not store well.
Spring Meadow Nursery
Spring Meadow Nursery offers a wide variety of perennial plant, shrub, and tree “liners” that are sold primarily to nursery plant retail operations. We order most of our “woodies” from Spring Meadow. Hydrangea, dogwood, winterberry, snowberry, spirea, viburnum, ninebark, juniper and many, many more.
Northern Nurseries
Northern Nurseries is our regional wholesaler of larger, landscape-ready shrubs and trees. While we primarily purchase “Quick Turn” size plants from Spring Meadow, occasionally a project calls for larger plants. If we’re looking for just a few larger shrubs or trees, we order from Northern Nurseries.
AMperSAND BULB CO
In 2022 the team here began forming relationships abroad and here in the US to source our own specialty cut flower bulbs and bare roots. That company has grown to serve over 1000 farms across the US. Ampersand Bulb Co. offers a wide selection of wholesale plants for flower farmers, landscapers, and non profit organizations like botanical gardens and garden clubs/societies.
RETAIL VENDORS
Swallowtail Garden Seeds
A beautiful collection of annual and perennial seeds. We love scouring the Swallowtail site for unusual varieties and we absolutely buy seeds from this great company.
Fast Growing Trees
We purchase a small number of trees from this site. Of about 10 trees we’ve purchased, 1 was too poor to survive (a bare root plant from a cutting with hardly any roots). So- order with caution.
Floret
We only occasionally purchase seed from Floret - typically we’re looking for varieties that are difficult to source else where. I avoid the mad rush of the opening of the seed sale at Floret. This year we bought some some cress and some white xeranthemum. Both plants can be used fresh or dried.
Johnny’s Selected Seeds
Johnny’s is a mainstay of small farm movement. They offer seeds for flowers (annual and perennial) and veggies, and now bulbs. We are consistently pleased with their product and customer service. We order most of our seeds from Johnny’s.
Little FarMHOUSE GARDEN STORE
Visit our own garden store, offering many of the same specialty plants that we grow here and that are offered through Ampersand Bulb Co.
Bluestone Perennials
Bluestone Perennials remains a favorite source for retail plant shopping. If I am curious about a variety that we may want to eventually order in large quantities, we’ll often with a trial of only a couple plants from Bluestone to see how they do on our farm. High quality.
Romence Gardens
In my search for cold-hardy plants I came across this large retail nursery operation in Michigan. Due to it’s location, Romence offers many varieties that just aren’t available from other companies that sort of cater to the majority of the country that is growing between zones 5 and 8.
