Commercial Auctions Online
Hello, I hope you're well. Today, I wanted to share some exciting information about online farm equipment and farm supply auctions. Recently, we stumbled upon some auctions featuring gigantic operations going out of business. The current owners are selling everything at exceptionally low prices through these online public auctions.
How We Found These Auctions
We discovered these opportunities through a daily email newsletter called Horti Daily. There is also a Flora Daily, and both truly live up to their name by sending daily emails. Through these newsletters, we learned about the closure of Sun Valley Floral Farms in California. Sun Valley encompassed a large network of farms producing an extensive array of bulb crops, including tulips and lilies. They were the largest producers in the U.S. of these flowers, among other floral products. Unfortunately, they went out of business and were sold off.
The Auctions
Sun Valley's Arcata location is now being liquidated, selling off acres of greenhouses, warehouses, and all related supplies and products. This sale includes massive quantities of farm equipment, and we learned about it through Horti Daily. The auction was managed by Tauber Aarons, and although it has already ended, similar opportunities can be found by exploring their and other auction houses' websites.
What We Found
We've been on the lookout for a forklift and were surprised to see numerous forklifts available at the auction. Renting one this year is practical for us, but purchasing one at a future auction where prices are low is an appealing long-term option. This auction included a variety of machinery, equipment, and supplies, such as greenhouses, tillers, boilers, heaters, generators, and more. Three days of auctions featured everything from mechanical equipment to the smaller items you'd find in a greenhouse like pots, tables, and bulb crates.
Upcoming Auctions
Next, I want to highlight an upcoming auction from Rasmus Auctions for White's Greenhouses. The first phase closes on October 9th and includes a diverse array of items such as greenhouse grow lights, racks, heaters, irrigation systems, conveyor belts, and so on. Beware; it's easy to get sucked into shopping on their website due to the extensive range of items available.
You can see all the details without even signing up, but to participate, you need to register. Note that for this auction, items must be collected in person; there doesn't seem to be a partner handling packing and shipping.
Why These Auctions Are Important
For anyone seeking farm supplies or equipment, these auctions can be a game-changer. We plan to keep an eye on Horti Daily and these auction houses for more opportunities to purchase affordable, large-scale items. While it's sad to see such large farms go out of business, these auctions provide an avenue to acquire supplies and equipment that might be otherwise unaffordable.
Conclusion
If you're on the West Coast and in need of large quantities of products like bulb crates, particularly at a place like Arcata, it’s worth visiting or participating in these auctions. With items sometimes going for as little as $1.50, the potential savings are enormous.
Keep these resources in mind when you need to make significant purchases, and happy bidding! Till next time.
