Dividing Agapanthus
It’s winter and it’s time to divide our agapanthus. For more information about agapanthus and why we love them, see this post from last summer when they were in bloom.
I started with 2 large agapanthus plants that were given to me in the summer of 2020. I divided those two plants into 8 after the first summer. Then, two years later, I divided each of those by 3 to get 24.
Now I have 24 large plants and I will divide them into 3 parts each this time to get 72!
To divide, I use a bread knife and some elbow grease to slice through them (you have to be kind of brutal). And I replant the sections each in their own 7 gallon pot with a soilless medium and water in lightly. Once spring comes around we’ll give them each some slow release fertilizer or water with the Shultz liquid fertilizer.
