Rolling Greenhouse Bench

Hello! This table always catches attention from visitors to our farm. It is a 70ft-long greenhouse rolling bench. We added our own, homemade crank handle on each end because the table gets a little too heavy to nudge when we load it up with all of our hydroponic trays in the winter. Smaller rolling greenhouse benches like these can usually be pushed to the side with minimal effort.

The basic mechanic of tables like these are a table frame, pipes for the rolling action (ours are chain link fence top rail), and a table top that essentially floats on top of the pipes. It’s a simple, but effective model!

Our rolling table allows us to grow 1/3 MORE plants in the center row of our greenhouse than we otherwise could. It’s really amazing. The width of the table is 6ft. Without it, we’d grow a 4ft wide bed with space on each side for walking/working. We would grow about 94 bulb crates of tulips/plants in the center row without the table. The table allows us to grow 140, or approximately 11,900 tulips at once in the center row alone.

Our table’s length about 20ft shorter than the total length of our tunnel so we have some space to gather and work at the front of the tunnel and some space to walk around the back end of the table.

We use the space under the table and the side benches to over-winter potted plants that would not survive outside otherwise (dahlias, eucalyptus, mums, scented geranium, etc).

We purchased our table kit through Farmtek. It is made by ClearSpan. Here is a link to the product. Let me know if you have any questions.
