Elevated Spring Centerpiece

Hello- A Pro Platform member reached out recently for some advice about building a statement or vase arrangement with the flowers that are blooming here now. That vide is coming up next! I also wanted to make an elevated centerpiece— so here’s what I came up with.

Here are the key elements in a large scale design I’d make now. Have a look at what is available to you.

  • blooming branches: apple, crabapple, cherry, viburnum, lilac

  • leafy vines: rose (I mentioned ‘Pole Star’ rose in this video), hybrid honeysuckle

  • lilies (force them early for large focal flowers)

  • tulips (reflex petals for more presence)

  • daffodils

  • wired hyacinth florets

  • rhubarb

See if you can group elements into monochromatic color collections for greater impact.

Group individual flowers together to make larger elements in proportion to the size of the design. It can be tempting to parse out your ingredients in an even, symmetrical fashion. But if you don’t have very large elements, the end result will look sparse, or you might be inclined to “over spend” by cramming in far more flowers than you should.

I’ll make a smaller, more standard tall glass vase arrangement in the next video.
